(In the anime)

Bakura's first appearance is the episode in which he duels Yugi for the first time

He then makes several smaller glimpse appearances on the way to duelist kingdom and on the island

His third real appearance, the first major one, is where Bakura takes over Ryou's body and takes everyone's souls to the shadow realm in an attempt to steal Yugi's Puzzle.  The attempt fails and Bakura is banished...for the time being.

Ryou then travels with the group until the duels with Pegasus are over.

During the duels with Pegasus, Bakura again takes over the body and attempts to steal Mokuba's, he is searching for a new host body and Mokuba's, without it's soul, will do nicely.  Unfortunately for him Pegasus restores the stolen souls and Tristan throws the ring over the edge of a cliff, which (to Tristan) seems to solve the problem...but it doesn't.

We don't see Bakura again really until the episode where Malik takes control of Bandit Keith.  In this episode Yugi's puzzle is broken and Ryou, finding one of the pieces, offers it oh so innocently to Yugi.  This is when people start yelling "stupid! Don't take it!" at Yugi for Bakura has infused a piece of his soul in that small piece of puzzle, waiting for his chance to steal it (the puzzle) or harm Yami.  Ryou then proceeds to fall off a ledge in the building.

Battle city is his next major appearance and a show down with Malik!

As Yugi remains determined to reassemble the Puzzle, no matter how long it may take him, Yami Bakura is still holding one of the pieces. Bakura recalls how in ancient times the pharaoh and six priests sacrificed themselves to seal all the evil within the seven Millennium Items. Bakura wants Yugi to collect all seven items so that the evil will be released again, but he wants to be able to explore the secrets of the Puzzle until that time arrives.

Using the power of the Ring, Yami Bakura transfers a small amount of his soul into the piece of the Puzzle and then hands it back to Yugi. But Malik, who has found a way to control the regular Bakura as well, suggests sending out the regular Bakura. He does this and Rishid explains that if Yami attacks, Bakura will surely die from the impact.

Bakura falls to his knees in pain but Yami is stopped from helping him by the referee. If he goes over to Bakura, he will be disqualified. Yami struggles with what to do, when Yami Bakura tells Malik to leave him alone and takes control of Bakura again.

He explains to Yami that Bakura's body is important to him and he can't let it die. So Yami attacks, winning the duel, and the first semi-final comes to an end.

As Yugi and his friends run to help Bakura, the referee tells Yugi he is entitled to one of Bakura's cards, but Yugi doesn't want it. Yami Yugi realizes that he and Yami Bakura are sort of similar, in the fact that they both have to protect their hosts.

One day, Malik managed to convince Ishizu to let him see the outside world, which was strictly forbidden to do. Ishizu and Rishid agree, so one morning, the two sneak outside.

They wander around the village taking in the sights when they run into Shadi, who warns them of great danger. They quickly return home and find Rishid on the ground, beaten. Malik's father tells Malik that what he has done was very wrong, and that it is his turn to be punished when the Yami takes control of his body. He takes the Millennium Rod and uses it to kill their father. Then, he is about to kill Rishid when he wakes up and the regular Malik returns, unaware of what just happened.

Ishizu tells Yugi that when he puts all the Millennium Items back he will have to let Yami go. Yugi is upset about this, but doesn't let his alter ego see his sadness.

Meanwhile, Malik takes over Tea once more and she returns Bakura's Millennium Ring to him, and he becomes possessed again. Yami Malik is about to kill Rishid again when Yami Bakura stops him.

(One moment when loyalties to certain characters may conflict..)

Yami Malik uses a card that makes both players draw 2 cards, if one of the cards is a trap the player skips his battle phase..

Yami Bakura then plays a card making him able to discard the cards from his hand and draw a whole new hand, but if there aren't 2/3 or more monster cards in their hand, they skip there battle phase.. Yami Marik is disgusted that he couldn't attack and sets a card on the field..

A little later on, Yami Bakura activates combo "Dark Designator" and "Exchange" to take Yami Marik's God Of Ra..

Yami Marik then laughs about Ra's special abilities, and that Ra is no use to Yami Bakura, but Yami Bakura then says he'll find out anyway..

#97  Clash of the Yamis - Marik Vs. Bakura (2) The duel continues with Yami Mabrik's LP Unharmed as he laughs at Yami Bakura.. It's now Yami Marik's turn, and he draws.. Yami Bakura tells him to hurry up so he can summon Ra..

Yami Malik then explains something about his rod, and how the spirit will like to rule over Marik's body forever.. Marik then tells Yami Malik that he will do no such thing and that he disrespects the Ishtar family..

Yami Malik doesn't care and he activates a magic card from his hand "Vengeful Bog Spirit" as revenge from the trouble Yami Bakura gave him before.. Both players now can't summon and attack on the same turn, monsters must wait one turn before attacking..

With Yami Bakura having all three monsters on the field to summon Ra, he tries to summon Ra on the Duel Disk.. Yami Malik then says "Got Ya!" and activates a trap card (it is unknown at this moment), but the effect of the card absorbs all of the opponent's monsters on the field during a sacrifice and injects them not into Ra, but into Yami Malik's life points.. As Yami Malik's LP keeps getting higher and higher, it almost seems that Yami Bakura can't do a thing to stop him!

Malik's LP = 8550

Bakura's LP = 1900

Since Ra has 0 ATK points, it is useless to Bakura, he then switches on the defense instead of the attack..

Later on, Yami Malik's monster destroys Puppet Master and Yami Bakura sacrifices Ra to summon Hades The God Of Hell. But it seems that somehow Yami Bakura forgot that Yami Malik has in his hand Resurrection which Bakura "Exchanged" for Ra..

The tides are turning and Yami Malik announces he will win this duel very soon..

Yami Bakura is very awake to all of the moves Yami Malik will make.. Yami Bakura feels so hopeless.. And just then, things get worst.. Yami Malik then activates the Resurrection card from his hand which shocks Yami Bakura. He then uses Ra's special ability "ONE TURN KILL" (BTW, on a slight note, this episode IS named ONE TURN KILL in Japan airings).. It allows Malik to sacrifice all but 1 of his life points, and raise Ra's attack and defense strength by that sacrifice of points..

Yami Malik attacks and wipes out Yami Bakura, Bakura's body then fades and Malik picks up Bakura's ring..

(Curse you Malik!)
